Copy-cat Jamba Juice Orange Dream Machine Recipe

One of the most addictive things for me is the Jamba Juice Orange Dream Machine smoothies. You probably know the ones -- extremely overpriced but oh so nom-nom-nom. Anyway, I found a copy-cat recipe for this marvelous drink and thought I'd post it here for both myself and anybody else who'd like to try it. (They're fab!)

Orange Dream Machine Smoothie Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 scoops frozen vanilla yogurt
2 scoops orange sherbet ice cream
1/2 cup low-fat milk (soy or rice is fine)
1/2 cup orange juice
1/8 cup - 1/2 cup of ice (not too much is needed)

Directions:

Add all ingredients to blender and, well...blend.

Difficulty: Easy
Prep/Cook: 5 minutes
Serving: 1

I love the Orange Dream Machine, but cringe every time I have to hand over the $5.00 plus tax. I'll be trying this out at home soon and hope I'm able to recreate the sensation!

Thanks, I had two of these this weekend and got a friend hooked on them too.

This will be much cheaper.

So I tried the recipe a few times over the last couple weeks, making small adjustments to try to improve the texture, flavor, etc.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but it comes out much thinner and more like an Orange Julius than a Dream Machine. Any suggestions?

hey pat, not really sure, it works pretty great for me and i think it's the ratio of sherbet to yogurt. also, i think the one made at JJ is with soy milk -- do you use soy? i think try it with soy and then play around with the other two frozens, primarily the yogurt.

I will definitely continue playing. The flavor is basically right, so perhaps it is just in need of more yogurt to thicken it up...

It's also very much a pleasant alternative than going to Jamba and spending the big bucks.

I'm with Chris, can't seem to get it just right, but it's tasty! How much is a "scoop" anyway?

I love the orange dream machine as well. I had success with not adding milk but another half scoop of yogurt....it was much thicker. Hope that helps!
